Historic Chipping Norton is situated within the beautiful landscape of the Cotswold hills and is the highest town in Oxfordshire, offering attractive views over the English countryside.
The word ‘chipping’ means ‘market’ and emphasises the town’s traditional links with commerce and the wool trade which date as far back as the early Middle Ages.

Chippng Norton is conveniently situated for Oxford, Stratford-upon-Avon, and Cheltenham (all within 25 miles) Junction 11 of the M40 at Banbury is only 15 miles away, providing straightforward commuting to Birmingham (about 55 miles) and London (approximately 75 miles). Main line railway station Kingham is approximately 7 miles away and provides frequent services to Oxford (around 25 minutes) and London (about 1 hour and 25 minutes). For international travel the area’s nearest airport is at Birmingham.

Shopping
Today Chippng Norton’s thriving town centre offers modern shopping facilities including clothes, food and provision of regular street markets. Further afield at Banbury there are several supermarkets and a choice of larger stores. Oxford offers the opportunity to visit a wider range of designer shops and specialist retail outlets. Stratford upon Avon has many tourist and shopping attractions along with the Royal Shakespeare theatre.

Education
There is a wide range of nursery and secondary schools locally. In the surrounding area there is an excellent range of state and independent schools. Higher education can be pursued at colleges in Banbury and the university city of Oxford.

The Cotswolds have a great deal to offer in terms of breathtaking scenery and numerous elegant stately homes and gardens to visit. This is the perfect location for long walks, horse riding, fishing and cycling. The region features a selection of golf courses, with Polo at Kirtlington and Cirencester Park. There is horse racing at Stratford, Cheltenham, Worcester and Warwick. Chipping Norton offers a range of cafes, pubs and restaurants and in Oxford, Cheltenham and Stratford the wide variety of cinemas, theatres and clubs means there is something for everyone in the area.
